Episode 3: Interviewing Margaret Tran How She Became An Author

I was born during the Vietnam War, and I spent my early childhood in Vietnam as a mixed race outcast. Although, I didn't have blue eyes or blond hair, but I had Caucasian nose and eyes as well as freckles, the Vietnamese people called me a "half-breed." Throughout my adolescence, I was in fear of being made fun of, being called names, and beaten up from home to school and school to home.

In 1985, my adoptive mother and I came to the United States. we couldn’t speak a word of English , but growing up in America, I was fortunate to make many wonderful friends and received an education that opened many doors for me. After graduated high school, I joined the Army for a year then got introduced into the beauty industry and worked my way around the states for over 25 years, eventually visiting many states from west to east coast. Now, I finally settled in Frederick, Maryland with my husband of 19 years, two children, a girl and a boy and four furry babies.

-After my mother's death in 2012, my world turned upside down and I fell into depression. All the pain, grief and sorrow just about made me lose my mind, I even thought of committed suicide. I turned my home into a prison cell, and I turned my family into a living hell. I completely broke down physically, mentally, and spiritually. For sure, life and family were hard for four years.

-My depression led me to realize I needed to create a new me and discover the path to a new life. The inner healing journey helped me recover so that I could be more present for my family, and it had given me the opportunity to look into my inner self, aware of my conscious, emotions, actions and how to use that pain as a source of fuel to love more, to give more, and to feel more of the greatness in life.

Surviving the trauma offered me the chance to rebuild my life and implement the lessons I had learned. Only by experiencing my own unique journey of healing, it had inspired me to become a writer in hope to help and guide people so they can brake bad habits, make changes, commitment and embrace happiness in their life.
